In Harmony is inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema music project, and will bring instrumental learning to young people in selected areas of the country. Children as young as four will have instrumental lessons and musicianship classes, leading to the formation of children’s orchestras. Through music, In Harmony aims to nurture children’s aspirations, self-esteem, creativity, commitment and teamwork.
Children’s Secretary Ed Balls spoke of the importance of music and his high hopes for In Harmony at yesterday’s official launch of the Lambeth In Harmony project.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra will be closely involved with this long-term project in their home borough of Lambeth through coaching, performance and mentoring.
