Review: Brahms and Beethoven with Jurowski

The London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski performed Brahms and Beethoven at the Royal Festival Hall.   The concert was reviewed by Richard Morrison in The Times (full review only available online to subscribers):
“[Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto] had everything: a gripping tension between granite strenness and rhapsodic beauty in the opening movements; beauty ignited into glowing ardour in the Andante; then a wonderful impishness, a sense of burdens lifted and clouds parted, in the finale. The control in the Norwegian’s playing was as striking as the tautness of the reading. And the LPO’s accompaniment, superbly marshalled by Vladimir Jurowski, was as fine. Kristina Blaumane’s ravishing cello solo almost eclipsed the main attration.”
