London Philharmonic Orchestra at The Shard launch – tomorrow night

The Orchestra will play a central role in celebrations tomorrow night to mark the formal inauguration of Europe’s tallest building, The Shard. Conducted by David Angus, the Orchestra will perform Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and the Finale from Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite during a spectacular light and laser show that will be streamed live online while illuminating the London skyline.

A combination of 12 lasers and 30 searchlights will light up the night sky over the capital at approximately 10.15pm on Thursday 5 July in a display that will be streamed live on The Shard’s website and Facebook page.

The show will see coloured lasers reach out from the 95-storey building on the South Bank to other major landmark buildings across the capital; including the London Eye, the Gherkin and the Arcelor Mittal Orbit Tower at the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
