Grammy nomination for Higdon CD with Colin Currie

The London Philharmonic Orchestra’s recording of Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto  has been nominated for a 2010 Grammy in the Best Classical Contemporary Composition category.   Recorded live in concert in December 2007 with the concerto’s dedicatee – percussionist Colin Currie – and conducted by Marin Alsop, the concerto is a hugely energetic and virtuoso piece which is coupled on this recording with works by Thomas Adès and James MacMillan.
