Review: Hansel and Gretel

Glyndebourne’s production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel with Alice Coote and Lydia Teuscher in the title roles was reviewed in the Financial Times:

Robin Ticciati’s thrilling account for this, the first Glyndebourne festival revival, confirms the score’s seriousness and sophistication. This young conductor clearly loves the piece, and knows it well, and he commanded a fine performance from the London Philharmonic Orchestra. I heard new depths to the music’s delicious detail, and throughout he maintained that delicate balance of tenderness and drama.
