The CD was previewed on BBC radio 3′s CD Review by Edward Seckerson who said:

This is what Mahler is all about: in the moment with everything dependent on the moment.  Tennstedt was a past master at that.  It’s a thrilling experience, particularly the 1st movement. As we go into the development sedction, it’s a fasten your seatbelt moment……This is Tennstedt shaking his fist at the naysayers, and the fervour of it is quite unparallelled.
